Does severed community connections affect our quality of life?

Communities are increasingly being built in areas without adequate public transportation, schools, shopping areas within walking distance, or office buildings that workers can bike to and from. Moreover, the roads within our communities divide us, creating physical and emotional barriers. Walking across the street in our own neighborhoods induces anxiety. We drive up to an hour away from our homes to work, visit family, or buy healthier food.

Our lives are no longer connected to the environment around us. The vehicles we drive have become the tools we rely on for a sense of connection; without them, we feel trapped in our homes, neighborhoods, and cities.
